Singer/songwriter Stew Simpson (40) is best known for his work as the front man for
Folk Rock band Hadrian's Union,
It has been 15 years since he recorded his first solo album (The Best of ... Yet To Come).
He will be celebrating the release of his brand new album 'Milk Man Son'with a few select gigs in 2019.
The album will be launched on Sat May 25th, 2019 at Ireby Festival in Cumbria.
Without the framework of Hadrian's Union, Stew has allowed himself to explore different sides of his journey into folk music using his roots in traditional mining songs from the North East of England, from his previous show Hyem through to such Folk and Rock cross over songs by Led Belly/Nirvana, (Where did you sleep last night) and to his more outrageous surrealist poetry.
With titles such as 'There's an eyeball in my dragon soup' and 'The Fangle Dooble Dozer'
lovers of Ivor Cutler and Edward Lear will be able to see the influnce in the spoken word  which features on 'Milk Man Son'
Stew has aimed to keep the show eccelctic, raw and real, with the ideals of a punk, some sweet guitar picking and with the aid of a tank top of a 70 year old shantie enthusiast, audiences are promised to be moved to tears - Some of them will be of joy. The rest may
just come from the sheer digust at the Faire Isle Pattern and retro moustache.
Set brain to Trad Folk Punk Shuffle, sit back, relax and try to guess where he might just take you next.
A true English Eccentric in every sense of the word.
All the best
The new website will be ready at the end of March
We are also delighted  to welcome back Ian Brown to the Vault stage
Ian K Brown
Ian has sung, played guitar and performed from his teenage years. Formerly a Deputy  Headteacher but since 2007 has been an instrumental teacher for guitar, ukulele and singing in Northumberland and Cumbria. In addition to that he has a film company called Flashlight Films ( ) which he runs with his son, Matthew.
Ian has three albums of his own songs, ‘Dancing with Shadows’ – produced by Rick Kemp (Steeleye Span’s bass man) in 2001, ‘Rough Around the Edges’ – 2008, and his most recent third album is 'One Voice One Guitar' - 2018 - which is exactly what it says with all of his newest songs.
He played regularly with Newcastle’s Tenth Avenue Band at festivals in England, Ireland and Germany until the summer of 2012 but since then has become a feature at many festivals playing as a solo performer and developing a reputation for his ukulele workshops.
Ian runs his own regular events outside the festival season at the Brew House at the famous Twice Brewed Inn on Hadrian’s Wall – they are always full and worth attending if you happen to visit the far north of England.
Ian is involved many festivals in the Northern Counties of England – Forgotten lands, Redefest, Alnwick, The Mighty Dubfest, Woolfest, Music on the Marr, Corbridge, BAAfest, Allen Valleys and Waterfoot Wakes where  he has performs solo, leads ukulele workshops and comperes   …  often doing all three.
